Kids Say...
the Darnest Things
Kids always say exactly what they think. This is what I have heard of Roope.
- A discussion between a little girl and her daddy... Overheard on an evening walk:
- Daddy, look, a kitty! (There is a black-and white cat living in the neighbourhood)
- No darling, it's not a kitty, it's a doggie. (Roope even barked at this point.)
- No, it is a kitty!
- This is a discussion I had with an eight-year-old:
- How fast can Roope run?
- So fast that a human can't catch it..
- Then you can run faster with shorter than longer legs.
- Has the dog had a haircut because he has such a short coat?
- Mom, hey, that's just like the Jack Russell Terrier in the Olvi commercial.
(I did not have the heart to say that no, actually he isn't) Here in Finland we
have these Olvi beer commercials with a fox terrier named Jeppe.
- I know what the dog is called: "It is Loope!"
- A lovely little dog, but a loud voice, hurts my ears.
- Mom, could we have a new dog, our dogs are so worn-out."
Their dogs were laying on the floor and Roope still wanted to play.)
